Knowing My Worth: Saying Good-bye to a Dead-End Job
Not the way I was hoping to start my PTA career.

As a physiotherapy aide, I work directly under the supervision of a physiotherapist. My job is to make sure that patients get the best care possible, from preparing treatment rooms, gathering equipment, applying cold and heat therapy to assisting with demonstrating exercises, I also handle administrative tasks when needed like scheduling appointments and taking payments.
I Said Yes To Minimum Wage
Walking into our local Physiotherapy clinic after finishing my two-year program as a PTA to apply for a job I felt nervous but also confident. Meeting the owner he seemed friendly and I told him that I was looking for a job as a PTA. He asked me to submit my resume and that he would consider hiring me.
A few weeks after I had emailed him my resume I got a call asking me to come in for an interview. Thrilled and bubbling with excitement I prepared myself. No need. To my surprise the interview was quick, and no questions about my PTA course or diploma were discussed. He offered me the job and told me that I’d start as an admin to get the hang of things and shortly after he’d provide me with training and hands-on experience with patients. I accepted, said yes to minimum wage and part-time hours.
