Sledding Into Space

The big old clock in the hallway struck midnight.
Dong-Dong-Dong
Lying awake, staring at the ceiling I was unable to fall asleep. My mind was going places, traveling back and forth, circling around decisions I have made in the past. Trying to find solutions in this confusing world I was living in, the unknowing future, and the piles of regrets; my mind kept piling on and on.
Wanting to escape the clutter that was disturbing me, I grabbed my phone off the nightstand next to me. I tried to distract myself, by scrolling through social media and watching random videos, but all this didn’t help stop that constant nagging in my mind. Growing more and more anxious by the minute, I started staring blankly at the wallpaper that I had saved on my phone. It was a picture of my three Siberian huskies pulling me on my sled through the deep snow, while I was happily waving and laughing at the person taking the picture.
Smiling I couldn’t take my eyes off of that picture. Seeing me out there with my dogs doing what I love most gave me the urge to jump out of bed, get dressed, grab my parka and my warm winter boots and dash out the door. There was nothing I wanted to do more than get out there right now, be with my dogs, and have a midnight sled ride under the stars.
